    Showbiz

    Ya'll guess what.........

    I SHOT A COMMERCIAL TODAY!!!

How weird is that? I am pretty excited about it. I can now say that I have been on T.V. other than the news. LOL.

So many neat things come into our lives when we least expect it. I helped out a business that brings a lot of work to our office.  It is not like I got paid for it, but I truly enjoyed the experience, so, I don't care about the money.

Just thought I would share with this here journal and my faithful readers and you new guys/gals!  Please share in the excitement with me.  Oh, if you have some exciting news, please let me know via comment so that I may rejoice with you too!

    Over There

So, last night I watched the series premier of "Over There".  Have you seen it? What are your thoughts on this show?

If you have read my blog on selfishness then you know that my brother is in the military. If not, you do now.  Well, my intent for watching this show was to gain knowledge about the circumstances that my brother has endured and to get a better understanding of where he is coming from.  I got way more than I bargained for.

First of all, the show starts off introducing you to the squad you are going to be following in this series.  The soldiers range between the ages of 18-22 (my brother will be 21 this year).  The branch of the military they are in is the Army (like my bro); and they are with the 3rd Infantry Division (similar but not the same as my brother).  So, I started off looking at each one of these soldiers as, you guessed it, my brother.

I saw some of the most horrible things during this show. I saw GSW's to the head; one guy who was hit with some sort of mortar or something and the top half of his body disintegrated while his legs kept walking then fell; one of the soldiers was in a vehicle when it tripped up a landmine and in turn his leg was blown in two.  These sites were horrific and I cried pretty much the whole entire hour of this show.

I am sorry that I watched it now because I relate this show with my brother and his current life.  The fact that he is headed "Over There" for another 15 months is devestating to me, especially now. I do not think that this type of a show or series should be aired at this particular time (while we are at war).  I know that you have a choice whether or not to watch this show, however, many, like myself, probably just wanted to see what their loved ones were enduring while over seas.  Imagine the pictures that are now stuck not only in my head but also theirs.  I do want to continue to watch this show out of curiousity, but I don't think that it will be in my best interests.  This is a show that I am interested in, for obvious reasons, but I think mentally I would better be able to handle it once my brother is on American soil.

I guess the reason for this post is just to get some insight into how others viewed this show.  If you watched it, please comment and let me have your thoughts.

    Thanks.
