    Love Yourself

Since I have not posted a devotional in a while...

Here is a devotional out of my book "Starting Your Day Right" by Joyce Meyer...

    Love Yourself

Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one's fellowmen, meeting all its requirments].  Romans 13:8

Jesus said, "Love your neighbor as yourself" (see Matthew 18:19).  So we need a healthy respect for ourself if we want to enjoy our relationships with other people.  If we don't have a balanced love for ourselves, it is difficult to love others.  Life is no fun if we can't enjoy other people, because they are everywhere we go!

Sometimes it is difficult to get along with people because they seem so different from us, but it is our differences that make us need one another.  God designed us to need each other's friendships and talents.  Do something nice for someone today.  Let someone know that you appreciate him or her.

One area in our lives that we often struggle with is relationships.  There is always some sort of disagreement, disappointment, or heart break where relationships are concerned.  I have been blessed with a little wisdom, in that, we must love others as we love ourselves (Matthew 18:19).  If you think about it, we all love ourselves...we make sure that we get what we want and/or need.  We think about ourselves continually throughout the day always looking to improve our own lives in one way or another.  Now, if each of us took at least a fourth of the time we spend thinking about helping ourselves and thought about helping others, what would change?  How would we act differently towards our fellowman?

    Don't Let Feelings Rule

(this has been taken from my book, "Starting Your Day Right", by Joyce Meyer)

This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction: that Your word has revived me and given me life.  Psalm 119:50

God showed me that we are always going to have feelings, and that denying the existence of them is not godly.  We do have to learn how to manage them, so they don't manage us.

If we live by our feelings, we will be destroyed, because our feelings aren't always in line with God's truth.  We are to walk by faith in His promises, and not by sight or how things appear or the way we feel (see 2 Corinthians 5:7).  Ask God to keep your feelings balanced with the truth of His word today.

    Balance Discipline

FYI: This is my morning devotional and it is out of "Starting Your Day Right" by Joyce Meyer.  It kinda adds to my post on balance. To read the post titled "Balance" go here: http://spaces.msn.com/members/dayinmylife/Blog/cns!1pvsjys0s_kj17Sh0QUtAgzw!270.entry

And I will walk at liberty and at ease, for I have sought and inquired for [and desperately required] Your precepts. Psalm 119:45

It takes discipline to balance your life. You should be disciplined to pray, disciplined to read and study the Word, and disciplined to spend quality time in fellowship with the Lord. But you must also be disciplined  to spend quality time with your family, and to take care of your health.  You should even discipline yourself to rest and have fun.

Examine your life today, and do what is needed to bring balance to the way you use your time. God wants your life to be full of joy. Psalm 23:2-3 teaches that He will lead you beside still and restful waters. He will refresh and restore your life. And He will lead you in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

    Side Notes by Megan:

Wow, when you think of all you have to do in a day that can be overwhelming in itself, not to mention trying to find time to do it all. But, if we trust God with our daily schedules and ask for His guidance throughout the day, we will find that time to complete each task without ending our day feeling like we were just hit with a mack truck!

    Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you for this amazing day that you have blessed me with. I thank you for my Savior, Jesus Christ, for without Him I would have nothing. Father, I am trusting in you for deliverance from the temptations and stress that I know this day will bring. I pray that You give me the eyes to see all the wonderful things You are doing in my life, as well as in the lives of others. I pray that my focus remains on You so that You may guide each step I take this day; making it a perfectly balanced; productive; proactive day full of joy and contentment. It is in the most precious name of Jesus that I pray these things unto You.
    Amen.
